Civic Renewal Party commonly known as CRP is one of the party in Mt Kenya Region in Kenya. The party is led by Muranga County Governor H.E Mwangi Wa Iria who is also the Council of Governors vice chairman and Presidential Candidate in 2022.

1. Name; The word 'Civic' means people's activities or duties in their local areas, towns or cities. So in choosing of the name 'Civic', philosophy is detected.
2. In 'CRP' abbreviation, still wisdom is detected. Just like it was in H.E Ruto's former party URP.
3. Party Symbol; The choice of symbol of a 'Cow' was also well advised as every Kenyan Citizen is familiar with cows.
On the party symbol, I could have advised for additional symbol of coffee, tea or maize which are backbone to Kenyan Economy and later being staple food in Kenya and which the party leader has been in forefront in reviving it's farming in the County through provision of farm inputs.
4. Party Slogan; "Usawa Kwa Wote" is great as it advocate for Equity, Equality and Fairness for all Kenyans.
5. Party Colours; Here the party had no choice but to use colours which are not used in any other registered Party. Eye catching bright colours Red, Orange and Yellow are already taken by Jubilee and ODM Party so CRP was only left with Green, Gold and Black. Green and Gold is not that bad but Black need to be avoided as plague, no popular party can use Black unless attending its own Political Burial.

With IEBC announcement of December 15 2020 as the date for all the By Elections in Kenya, It has changed political climate with most popular Political parties like Jubilee, ODM, Wiper among other having already or being in the process of conducting party primaries rushing against time to meet the IEBC's guidelines and timelines of returning nominations papers for candidates clearances to contest in the forth coming by-elections in the following constituencies or wards;
1. Msambweni Parliamentary Seat
2. Dabaso Ward in Kilifi County
3. Mbale/Wundanyi Ward in Taita Taveta County
4. Kisumu North Ward in Kisumu County
5. Kahawa Wendani Ward in Kiambu County
6. Gaturi Ward in Muranga
7. Lake View Ward in Nakuru County

Every political party is trying to subject all its aspirants to a free, fair and transparent exercise so as to pick the most popular candidates to avoid scenarios where candidates feel rigged out and leave the party to contest as Independent Candidates or support Candidates from rival parties. Mostly Candidates choose popular parties while popular parties choose popular candidates.
The first task for CRP is similar to that of former TNA which was led by H.E Uhuru Kenyatta. TNA fielded candidates in 2012 by-elections and got victory in Kangema and Kajiado North constituencies which changed the political landscape in central Kenya and became the ticket party of choice by most candidates in 2013 General Elections.
Likewise, CRP which I think is still in honeymoon or its comfort zone must by all means step outside it and really test itself.

The first big task for CRP is to field candidates in most posts in December by elections and campaign vigorously and aggressively to popularize the party, garner votes and probably win at least one or two of the above mentioned seats especially in Gaturi Ward which is the 'bedroom' of party leader H.E Mwangi Wa Iria, hailing from the same constituency or stretch his muscle to Kahawa Wendani Ward in his neighbouring Kiambu County or even Lake View Ward in Nakuru County.
If CRP succeed in that, it will be able to field popular candidates in most parts of Kenya in 2022 General Elections in regard to MCA, MP, Woman Rep, Senator, Governor and the presidency, with the later being the only Kikuyu or GEMA candidate, and in so doing it will have some elected and nominated members in County Assembly, Parliament or even Gubernatorial Seat especially in Muranga County, Central Province and Mt Kenya Region where the party hails. In Muranga where Wa Iria is the Governor, the party might be a rethal force to reckon.
The second big task for CRP will be opening up offices across Kenya and mass registration of its members. Currently the CRP has a party headquarters and members registration exercises are on going where new members dial *658*21# for registration or simply send full names and ID no to 21164.
Apart from Jubilee, the party might be antagonized by other Political Parties in Central Kenya and Mt Kenya Region the likes of former Gatanga MP Hon Peter Kenneth's KNC, CS Peter Munya's PNU, Hon Martha Karua's Nark Kenya, Hon Moses Kuria's Party, former CS Mwangi Kiunjuri's TSP, former PS Irungu Nyakera's DP, Safina Party and GNU.

First Civic Renewal Party (Partido Renovaciòn Civilista), CRP (PRC) was founded in Panama in 13 August 1992. It was formed and lead by a group of Liberal Minded professionals who popularized the party and won major seats during the 1994 General Elections. Later the party fell in the hands of goons and hooligans and it failed to garner enough votes to win any seat in 1999 Elections when it was dissolved due to its miserable state and was relegated to political oblivion.
That's the historic and political error the new CRP cannot afford to repeat. H.E Mwangi Wa Iria should follow political doctrine and his ideologies in party leadership. The party need to adopt benevolent perspective rather than bourgeoisie perspective which is a common pattern in Kenyan political parties.
